Experience
Dr. Junji Cao, has more than ten years of experience as a researcher and group leader. He established the Aerosol and Environment Division of CAS*s Insitute of Earth Environment after receiving his doctoral degree in 2001 and has systematically increased its staff and capabilities for field and laboratory studies. He established quality controlled procedures for filter weighing, ion chromatography, 13C and 18O isotopic abundances, and thermal carbon analysis. He is currently adding a capability for aerosol elemental analysis by x-ray fluorescence.
Dr. Cao*s research includes: 1) carbonaceous aerosols, their origins, and effects on climate; 2) indoor air pollutants and their effects on historical artifacts; and 3) paleo-aerosols as embodied in soil cores and sediments as indicators of past global climate change. Dr. Cao is the principal author or co-author of more than 140 peer-reviewed publications including ~70 SCI journal papers. Total citations of these papers are close to 700 times as reported by Thomson ISI.
