At the invitation of Prof. Cao Junji, Dr. Yoshiki Saito from Institute of Geology and Geoinformation (IGG), Geological Survey of JapanNational Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology visited the IEECAS on 28th March, 2014.

During his visit, Dr. Saito gave an expressive presentation on the topic of “Holocene sea-level changes and delta evolution” in the lecture hall. Dr. Saito comprehensively reviewed the progress of world’s coast sea-level researches, and told the evolution process and characteristics of costal and sea-level change in different time periods during the Holocene. The presentation was followed by a thorough and extensive discussion among researchers and graduate students. Finally, Prof. Jin and Dr. Saito exchanged views on cooperation of both parties in the future.

Yoshiki Saito is an prime senior research, doctor of science. He works in Institute of Geology and Geoinformation (IGG), Geological Survey of JapanNational Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. His overall research interests are to understand coastal environments on transcending time scales in the Quaternary inclusive recent changes by human activities, from viewpoints of sediment budget/dispersal, depositional system development, and sequence stratigraphy particularly in relation to sea-level changes, and from a standpoint of human impacts. Particularly interests include the modern and ancient formation of sedimentary strata in continental margin environments, with special foci on deltas.
