The 8th National Congress and the 14th Academy annual conference of the Chinese Society for mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry (CSMPG) has been held in Nanjing during Apr. 22-25, 2013. This conference was supported by the CSMPG and co-hosted by the Nanjing University and Institute of Geochemistry, CAS. During this conference, the election of the 8th council of the CSMPG has been carried out, and more than thousands of scientific researchers from CAS, territorial resources system, universities, department of petroleum, department of metals, and department of coal participated in this meeting. Prof. Weijian Zhou has been elected as the vice president of the 8th board of CSMPG. CSMPG was founded in 1978, and has more than 6000 members now. CSMPG has provided a well communication platform for the mineralogist, petrologist and geochemistry researchers by organizing a series of academy activities.
